The Mother's Little Helper Portfolio is at an all time high. Hurricane Irma fortunately didn't do as much damage as was anticipated, but those impacted will continue to need our help until they get their homes and businesses back. Today is also day 13. That's right it's been 13 days in a row since North Korea has launched a missile.

Distinguished Gentlemen

Today I wanted to bring your attention to something other than the stock market, natural disasters and geo-political events. I'm speaking about men's health, specifically prostrate cancer and suicide prevention. The state of men’s health is in crisis. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Three quarters of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute.

On Sunday September 24th 2017, tens of thousands of distinguished gentlefolk in hundreds of

cities worldwide will don their cravats, tweak their mustaches, press their tweed and sit astride their classic and vintage motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and men's mental health. I will personally be hosting a DG Ride in Murphys, California on Sunday September 24th. I'll try and grow a mustache by then, I will slip into my most dapper linen suite, sporting a corn flour blue silk tie and cruise my 1972 Norton Commando down main street. The bike is bright orange and very loud, perfect for gathering the awareness this initiative requires. This is the first time Murphys has had a DG Ride. While the ride is small, the purpose is great.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting niche motorcycle communities together. That first ride in 2012 brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities. The success of the event encouraged the founder to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause. In 2013, over 11,000 participants in 145 cities around the world raised over $277k (USD) for prostate cancer research. In 2014, over 20,000 participants in 257 cities in 58 countries raised over $1.5M (USD) for prostate cancer research. In 2015, over 37,000 participants in 410 cities in 79 countries raised over $2.3M (USD) for prostate cancer research.

In 2016, over 56,000 participants in 505 cities in 90 countries raised over $3.6M (USD) for prostate cancer research & men's mental health programs in partnership with the Movember Foundation.

Please support Distinguished Gentlemen everywhere by contributing in any way you can. You can make a donation on my sponsorship page, register to join my ride or any ride anywhere, get out and cheer the riders in your area, or simply write some encouraging words on the DG Facebook Page.
