Normally I write after the close, I may not have time for that today so I'm doing something a bit different, I'm posting my short-list, or what we'll call the Bull-Pen. These are stocks that have made it to my final round of analysis, mainly pricing strategy, but that have not yet been added to the portfolio; so I'll hold them while they warm up and I get more or less confidence in these names. I offer them up for your own review while I work on determining price points.
I will not be buying everything and holding until the end of the year as I've done in previous years. For 2019 I want to spot light the importance of stock picking while still maintaining positions in important funds, namely the Vanguard S&P 500 Index fund (VTI) and the SPDR Gold Shares (GLD).
The Bull-Pen
Most of the stocks listed below are trying to avoid crowded investment strategies. There are
some like NVDA and AMZN that are very crowded and are part of what moved the market so dramatically over the last two years. You will also find some small cap biotech companies that I think could be bought at current prices. I have more stocks in review that I have not yet added to the Bull-Pen, they have a couple of hurdles to clear yet. I have always liked regional banks, the ones listed below are showing great potential but the negative sentiment on banks in general should give any investor pause.
