DVAX has been a solid performer for the portfolio. With our cost basis at $4.10/share, a $16 share price will

Day 210: Dynavax a Dog?

Will this dog hunt? This week all eyes are on Dynavax Technologies (DVAX). Well, not all eyes but at least those following the MLH Portfolio since DVAX has been our best performer year to date. Stock prices in general reflect what investors believe shares will be worth in the future and catalysts, events that can trigger increases in earnings, revenue and growth, can push prices higher. This is especially true of small cap biotech companies like Dynavax. The events this week that will have a material impact on DVAX are an FDA AdCom meeting on July 28th and a PDUFA on August 10th for their Heplisav-B vaccine. Investors are worn out waiting on DVAX considering that the original applicatio

The full list of reporting companies can be found here: http://www.cnbc.com/earnings-calendar/ I'm continuing my work on the recession and hope to have something to share next week. Have a great weekend. Stay Investe

Day 205: Scheduling a Recession #2

CLICK BUTTON BELOW FOR FULL ARTICLE The Mother's Little Helper portfolio was UP today +$4,799.48 (+0.64%). Overall GAIN YTD: +$169,649.54 (+29.05%). According to CNN Money our benchmark index, the S&P 500 is up +10.5% Year To Date. http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/sandp/ The Mother's Little Helper Portfolio continues it's bullish push up closing today just slightly above 29% for a year to date high of +29.05%. In my previous post (Day 200: Schedule The Next Recession) I discussed working on an article that will help us predict the timing of the next recession; what a learning experience this has been. In my hunt for quality numbers I went straight to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (B

Day 200: Schedule The Next Recession

The Mother's Little Helper portfolio was UP today +$7,819.99 (+1.05%). Overall GAIN YTD: +$167,795.65 (+28.74%). According to CNN Money our benchmark index, the S&P 500 is up +9.85% Year To Date. http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/sandp/ A picture is worth a thousand words. Below is a graph comparing the MLH Portfolio (Blue Line) with the S&P 500 (Red Line) year-to-date. The portfolio had another good day, closing with a 1.05% increase, bringing the year-to-date gain up to 28.74%. I'm repeatedly asked how long I think the current bull market will continue and all I can say is, "There's no expiration date on a bull market, it will last until it stops". Yeah, I thought that was a lame answer

Day 196: Citrix 4 Sale?

The Mother's Little Helper portfolio was UP today +$1,448.56 (+0.20%). Overall GAIN YTD: +$153,129.81 (+26.23%). According to CNN Money our benchmark index, the S&P 500 is up +8.42% Year To Date (http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/sandp/). Is Citrix Systems being prepared for a sale? One of the best performers in the MLH Portfolio, Citrix Systems (CTXS) is down 3.67% in after hours trading. The after hours sell off occurred when Citrix announced that they had appointed a new CEO, David J. Henshall. Citrix appears to be a tough place to work, especially if you're the CEO because this is the 4th CEO change in two years. CEO Mark Templeton stepped down in 2015 and was replaced by Robert Calder

The Mother's Little Helper portfolio was UP today +$9,188.51 (-1.27%). Overall GAIN YTD: +$151,632.60 (+25.97%). According to CNN Money our benchmark index, the S&P 500 is up +8.32% Year To Date (http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/sandp/).
